Why I teach

For more than thirty years, Creative Edge Yoga has served the Connecticut shoreline—Guilford, Madison, Branford, and New Haven—as well as an online community near and far. Wherever you join from, the aim is to help you move more comfortably and confidently in the life you want to lead.

We look at habits of movement, posture, and tension that may contribute to discomfort or restriction. Through yoga and somatic practice, we work toward flexibility, strength, coordination, and greater ease at a pace you can manage.

Movement, learning, and neuroplasticity

My path began in classical yoga and therapeutic practice. Over time, curiosity led me to study how the brain and body learn through movement.

Neuroplasticity is the nervous system’s capacity to adapt through experience and learning. It offers a useful way to understand how we can learn new movement habits.

As my own body changed with age and experience, I came to see resilience differently. It’s also about how we adjust, recover, and find balance when life shifts. That understanding continues to shape my teaching.

About the Somatic Movement Center

My teaching brings yoga and mindfulness into conversation with Clinical Somatics, the Feldenkrais tradition, and other approaches to somatic education. A shared thread is learning to pay attention to how we move.

What a session is like

Every session begins with what’s possible for you today. Mindfulness is part of that process: paying attention to how a movement feels, where you’re working harder than you need to, and what happens when you try it another way. We explore together and build gradually.

Whether you join a small-group class or an individual session, we connect the practice to what matters to you—perhaps an easier walk, steadier balance, or greater freedom in a familiar yoga pose.

In Connecticut and online

For more than thirty years, Creative Edge Yoga has served the Connecticut shoreline—Guilford, Madison, Branford, and New Haven—as well as an online community near and far. Wherever you join from, the aim is the same: to help your body remember what ease feels like. From there, movement becomes lighter, more stable, and more enjoyable.

Classes and private sessions provide movement education, not medical diagnosis or treatment. Pain can have many causes; exploring movement habits does not identify or treat an underlying medical condition. Consult a qualified health professional about persistent or new pain, injury, or concerns about participating. Individual experiences and results vary.
